After unhooking the car and setting up the camper, we headed into Historic San Antonio to "Remember The Alamo" and actually see what was happening in 1836. I was surprised by the site itself. It is rather small and unassuming. The park and monuments that have been erected around the actual Alamo are very nice and very informational. So we will definitely "remember the Alamo".
Some of us are real Davey Crocket fans. And some of us are fans of the Texas Rangers too.
At least she didn't get arrested, nor did she try to grab that flashy yellow tazer he was carrying.
The next day, Monday, May 14th, we headed back into town and did all the touristy things. We bought a tour package that included 2-day hop-on-hop-off bus tickets and a river-ride through the beautiful River-Walk area here. And we went up the tallest structure in the city, the Tower of the Americas Space Needle which gives you a 360-degree view of the area. I tell you, we were very impressed with and fell in love with San Antonio, TX. This is most definitely a Spanish influenced city. The San Fernando Cathedral was also very impressive. Below are only a sample of the multiple pictures we took as we traveled around the City.
The River-Walk winds throughout San Antonio at about 8 feet below the street level with a walking-bike path and various businesses and hotels set up to handle the traffic that passes by.
We then visited San Fernando Cathedral where the remains of the heroes of The Alamo are entombed.
The Cathedral is in itself very beautiful.
