Today, we took a mule-powered carriage ride tour through the French Quarter and had an escorted visit to the 1st Catholic Cemetery in New Orleans. Some of the above ground plots date back to the War of 1812 and before. Although the Cemetery is owned by the Archdiocese of New Orleans, each mausoleum has to be maintained by the family. So, if the person no longer had a family, the gravesite goes untaken care of. That's why so many of the sites look like they are falling down while others are bright and decorated with flowers and beautiful inscriptions.
By midday, it was time for some cooling off. New Orleans has the famous WWII Museum. Veterans and their spouses get a nice discount and WWII Vets get in free. The Greatest Generation is passing away before our eyes. We need to pay them tribute for their heroic service both in the Military and in Civilian life at home during the War. This museum does a nice job showing the various theaters of the War.
We have been asking for advice as to what to do in the places we are visiting. We have received some very helpful advice such as the location of this Campground and great spots to see. But I need to do a shout out to our daughter, Stephanie, and our Son-in-Law, Pete, for their mealtime suggestion of Bon Ton Cafe. and for their drink and dessert suggestion. Great Food. Thank you!

By now, we needed to unwind and visit another Cathedral on our trip. The Cathedral of St. Louis in New Orleans is one of the oldest in this country. Very beautiful with a very unusual balcony feature.
All this and still another day in NOLA to go.
Yay! Glad you're having fun. Thanks for the shout out. I feel famous now!
