Sunday and Monday, June 3 & 4th, we spent exploring Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. This National Park, like some others, has a highway that traverses its boundaries and therefore, does not charge admission. We traveled from Moab Utah along Utah Highway 24, a very scenic route that also is the route that traverses the Park. We were able to get some wonderful dashcam movies of the trip. Unfortunately for this Blog, the movies are 15 minutes long for each segment which makes them too long to share here.
What is a Capitol Reef anyway? Well according to the guidebook, the early settlers considered any physical obstacle to their westward travels a Reef. This is some obstacle. They also considered the domes at the top of many of the rock structures to resemble Capitol Domes... so hence the term Capitol Reef for the National Park.
Tomorrow, we plan on traveling, still within Utah, to two other National Parks, Bryce Canyon and Zion, as well as some places of interest in the general area.
