We plan on leaving our Florida Home this coming Wednesday, May 2, 2018, and heading West through Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas. We will then head up to New Mexico, and Colorado. Then over to Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. The final part of the trip is the return back to the New York area.
We plan on staying at a lot of Cracker Barrel Restaurants and Walmarts for quick overnight stops on our route. We also plan on staying at many Elks Lodges as well for either single or multiple nights stays. The plan is to visit various areas such as New Orleans, San Antonio, Roswell, Carlsbad Caverns, Alburquque, Santa Fe, The Rockies, National Parks, Sedona, Monument Valley, and the Grand Canyon for multiple days.
These are our plans, but as you know plans change.
So, come with us, tell us what you liked in these areas and give us your advice as to what to see and what to do. We may even follow your advice.

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip! I hope you brought extra data cards for your camera. There's so much to see & explore in the Southwest.
Pat O'Brien's has restaurants in New Orleans & San Antonio. If you're in the mood for Cajun Cooking, I recommend Pat's place.
Downtown San Antonio is very tourist & pedestrian friendly. There's a lot to see & do within two miles.
Please take the boat ride along the River Walk in San Antonio. You won't be disappointed. Eric & I loved
the Mission Trail, which extends south of the city.
Everyone visits The International UFO Museum & Research Center in Roswell. The Anderson Museum of Contemporary
Art Museum is free & has thoughtful collection of Contemporary Art.
You'll love Carlsbad Caverns! I recommend bringing jackets because it's cool in the deepest regions of the cavern.
Albuquerque has lots to explore. Old Town has the original Town Square, surrounded by lots of stores & restaurants. If you want to ensure that you are buying authentic Turquoise in Albuquerque, please take a tour of the Turquoise Museum. It's located near Old Town. Nob Hill has Art Deco architecture.
Tinkertown Museum in nearby Sandia Park is fun collection of folk art. The drive to Sandia Crest is fun. The view from the top of the mountain is beautiful!
Santa Fe's Plaza is the old town square. It's ringed with shops. There's a Cathedral nearby that is very old.
The Farmer's Market is big & there are vendors selling everything you can imagine. Eric & I had delicious Mexican Food at Tomasita's Restaurant.
The red rock formations in Sedona are beautiful! West Sedona reminded me of Lake George... Lots of Souvenir Shops & restaurants.
Safe travels!
